We are living in a generation that increasingly acknowledges the impact of our actions on the environment. Sustainability is a hot topic that is shifting people’s behaviors and creating a wave of new initiatives. For many, however, it feels doubtful that everyday personal actions can actually effect change, and keeping up with the latest movements are just too far out of reach.
This is far from the truth. As individuals, solid waste is among the top polluters that we contribute to our environment every single day. According to the EPA, the average household disposes of up to 60 pounds of garbage per week. By consciously choosing to RECYCLE, each of us can make a positive step in the right direction.
In early 2016, Republic Service began dispensing two new garage cans to each household. One for recyclables and one for non-recyclables, each to be picked up once a week on the same day. What this means for you, NO MORE SEPARATING paper, plastic, glass or aluminum
The newest and largest Recycling Center in North America, located in North Las Vegas, is now doing the extra work for us.
In Clark County, there was a 3% increase in the recycling rate from 2015 to 2016 per the annual Southern Nevada Health District Recycling Report. We are excited to see the impact of this program at the end of 2017.
